Description
Late last fall Tim Kasher went north for the winter after nearly a year of touring in support of Cursive's 2009 release Mama, I'm Swollen. Leaving sunny Los Angeles, it was in the frosty valley of Whitefish, MT nestled next to Big Mountain and Glacier National Park that he set about writing and recording his debut solo album, The Game Of Monogamy.

Ah, what a joy to hear this album. I have been a fan of Cursive and The Good Life for a awhile now. The Good Life has always put out good work musically on the subject of couples. The Good Life's past two albums Help Wanted Nights and Album of the Year; you should check out if you are a fan of this album. But I think Tim finally to me has made his most coherent album on the theme of couples and the desperation couples end up in. There's a lot of honesty in all of his writing. There are moments which are humorous and tragic at the same time on this record. I feel he captures these moments and others brillianty on this album, which i always missed before on his other works. This album is as sharp as a knife. Strays is one of Tim's most uplifting songs, which says a lot of how much he has grown. I think it's was perfect timing for him to have a self-titled record. Maybe it inspired him more, who knows. So very happy for the artist and to have listened to him grow. Don't miss out on this one, it truly is one of the best of 2010. Worth every minute. I hope more people catch onto this artist. If you want to try a song or two to see if it's for you. Try strays or cold love.
