The game keeps getting better, in the same way that when you eat oatmeal everyday you gain a respect for its predictable averageness. Older Battlefield games had perfectly good systems which the new game abandoned for either money saving efforts or an "enhanced gaming experience." Want a scoreboard? Tough luck people playing this game a few months ago. The scoreboard is back, along with several other features the developer strangely omitted. I have played Battlefield games since the "Battlefield 1942," and the current rendition of the franchise has thrown the baby out with the bath water. Want to choose your own squads, your own regular XP server, or your own maps? You don't need all that. Enjoy having the new experience thrust upon you like the kiss from a distant relative at a Christmas gathering. Sure, Aunt Rita has good intentions, but you didn't really ask for or expect what she's serving up. This Battlefield is one of those misses like Bad Company 2 (where players could not lie prone) or Hardline. The game continues to improve by adding back the functionality of previous games, but it may be too little too late. The game makes it difficult to type team chat vs squad chat. There is no inter-team chat. Map zooming is difficult enough to be impractical. Spawning in was easier in previous versions. Forming squads is a forced option, yet the methods to encourage teamwork are nonexistent. This game is like a well-made Battlefield rip-off. The game is fun to play, but it is not a Battlefield game in the same style as previous versions. Perhaps the biggest affront to players has been the character system; the gameplay results in clones fighting each other. This "feature" alone makes the game laughable at times.
